Change of Venue on Thursday 12 November 2009

Due to a prior booking at Greenslopes Bowls Club,  class on Thursday 12 November will be held at the Mt Gravatt Bowles Club – 1873 Logan Road, Upper Mt Gravatt.  The Mt Gravatt Bowles is only 5 minutes away from Greenslopes and has an awesome dance floor with a bar and gaming facilities. We apologise for any inconvenience but we guarantee it will be another great night with 2 interstate guests confirmed to be there.

 

Raw Connection West Coast Swing Routine

Raw Connection will be teaching its first public routine to the hit song “I Gotta Feeling” by the Black Eyed Peas. Aimed at dancers who have done around 10 casual classes or a Beginner 101 course, this routine will focus on fun patterns incorporating styling and rhythm variations, cool transitions and lots of team work.

A routine is a great way to learn new moves, improve your freestyle dancing and get to know and bond with fellow dancers in the group. There may also be the possibility of performing at the Nuroc Teams Competition in Sydney at the end of January 2010 if the routine is ready.

Dance HQ – 4/16 Pinter Dr, Southport
When:
Sundays 5:00pm – 7:00pm.
6, 13, 20 December 2009 and 3, 10, 17 January 2010
Cost:
$130 per person required by 26th November 2009

Patterns & Styling Workshop 3

We had an overwhelming response to our last Patterns & Stying workshop at the beginning of October with over 40 people attending. It’s fantastic to see so many dancers progressing quickly and implementing the new technique and moves into their freestyle.

Our next patterns and styling workshop will be early next year. The workshop will focus on pattern extensions, styling and musicality throughout your West Coast Swing dancing.
Air Conditioned Venue and No Partner Required.

Next Beginner WCS 101 Course

The next beginner 101 Course will be held throughout February and March next year. This four week course covers the fundamental techniques you need to know about WCS as well as the basic patterns that form the foundation of the dance. With a focus on getting you confident and comfortable on the dance floor, this course is a must for anyone keen to accelerate their WCS dancing.
No Partner Required.

Saturdays 4.00pm – 6.00pm.
27 February and 6, 13, 21 March 2010
Cost:
$120 or $100 if paid on or before 25 February 2010

 

Interstate Workshops

In January 2010, Nuroc Dance Company in Sydney are bringing out to Australia the number one West Coast Swing couple, Jordan Frisbee and Tatiana Mollmann!

Jordan & Tatiana have been a successful partnership for nine years. They are 11-Time US Open Champions, 6-time NASDE Champions and Multi-Grand National Champions. These guys will be teaching a series of workshops, including a WCS routine, from Wednesday, 20 January to Wednesday 27 January 2010 and will be performing their latest competition routine at the Performance Show Night on Saturday, 23 January 2010. There will also be a number of competitions run throughout the week. This is an amazing opportunity to learn from and watch the best in action.

Also, in November this year, the one and only ''Swing Daddy'' Mario Robau Jr is coming to Sydney to share his vast knowledge and experience of West Coast Swing dancing with us. Swing Dance Downunder are presenting a weekend of workshops and competitions with Mario and his dance partner, Samantha Buckwalter from 27 – 29 November 2009.

West Coast Swing Shoes

Raw Connection now has a full range of sizes of both men’s and women’s shoes suitable for WCS. Similar shoes normally retail for $170 in the stores but we are offering them for $100 a pair. Check out our website for more details.

 

Buffet Meals now available

Don’t forget to join us for a meal at the restaurant at 6:00pm before class every Thursday night. The Greenslopes Bowls Club is now offering a soup, pasta & salad buffet for only $10 a person if you present your Raw Connection membership card.
