Raw Connection in Auckland New Zealand

We are very pleased to announce that Raw Connection Auckland NZ will be opening its doors on Saturday the 4th of February 2012. The awesome new Raw Con Auckland Team will consist of Eric Gray, Ani Fuller, Shannon Coxall-Jones, Reachel Allen and Kristy McKinney. Not only are these guys incredible WCS dancers and teachers, they are also passionate about spreading the dance throughout New Zealand!

WCS Christmas Dance Party and Workshops

Our last couple of Dance Parties were HUGE!!!

Join us for our Christmas Dance Party on Saturday, the 17th of December 2011. The night will start at 7:30pm with a 1 hour Beginner Workshop and 1 hour Intermediate Workshop running simultaneously. Once the learning is done, we will turn the lights down and the music up and have social dancing until 11:30pm.

Cost: $15.00 or FREE if you are a First Timer or from Interstate – so make sure you bring all your friends and family who want to know what WCS is all about!!
When: Saturday, 17 December 2011
Time: 7:30pm – 11:30pm
Where: Broadbeach Bowls Club – 169 Surf Parade, Broadbeach.

Our next Dance Party will be held on Saturday the 21st of January at the Greenslopes Bowls Club.

 

Christmas Break Dates

Our last class for 2011 will be on Thursday the 22nd of December. Classes will resume on Thursday the 5th of January 2012.

We would like to thank everyone for their ongoing support throughout 2011. We’ve had an awesome year and can’t wait for an even better 2012!

If we don't get to see you before Christmas, we wish you a very happy and safe festive season.

 

New West Coast Swing Public Routine

If you enjoyed the Break Your Heart, Please Don’t Go and the Give Me Everything Routines, then you will love this one!

Choreographed again by Ben Morris and Holly Skinner, our next routine will be to the funky acoustic version of “Price Tag” by Bluey Robinson. This routine is fun, playful and full of awesome patterns, footwork and stylisations. If you are an intermediate dancer, you don't want to miss out on doing this fantastic routine. Find a partner now!

This routine will be taught over one weekend only and on the Saturday night we will have something fun planned for attendees too!

Dates: Saturday 18 & Sunday 19 February 2012
Where: Sat – Bellevue Park State School, Sapium Dr, Ashmore
             Sun – Abrakidazzel, 48/3 Jackman St, Southport
Times: Saturday 10am-12pm, 1pm-3pm & 4pm-6pm
            Sunday 11am-1pm & 2pm-4pm
Cost: $130 per person to be paid by 9th February 2011.
          Price includes a copy of the routine DVD  

Own Partner Required 
This routine will also be performed at Swingsation 2012 & will also be used to compete with at the CMJ WCS Competition in June 2012.

 

WCS Beginner Intensive

Our next Beginner WCS Intensive is scheduled for Sunday the 4th of March 2012.

This course will cover the fundamental techniques you need to know about WCS as well as the basic patterns that form the foundation of the dance. With a focus on getting you confident and comfortable on the dance floor, this intensive is a must for anyone wanting to improve their WCS or kick start their love affair with this fun and interpretive dance style.

The Intensive will be limited to 10 Leaders and 10 Followers.

When: Sunday, 4 March 2012
Time: 12 noon to 5:00pm (4 hours of instruction)
Where: Broadbeach Bowls Club - 131 Ride Street, Greenslopes
Cost: $60.00 per person

 

Swingsation 2012

Swingsation registrations have been going off!!!! Ladies, unfortunately registrations for you have closed due to the overwhelming response we have received. If you are interested in attending the weekend, please email us to get your name put on the standby list!

Gentlemen, if you haven’t registered already, check out all the awesome things we have in stall for you at www.rawconnection.com.au/swingsation (including a bonus ‘stealing’ workshop which will teach you how to steal a follower from another guy).

Swingsation will be held over the 18th, 19th and 20th of May 2012 and the weekend will include:

  • - US West Coast Swing Champions Ronnie DeBendetta, Brandi Tobias, Ben Morris, Jennifer DeLuca and Michael Kielbasa
  • 10 hours of WCS workshops
  • - 1 hour Bonus “Stealing” Workshop
  • - 2 dance parties
  • - Over 16 hours of social dancing
  • - Performances by the Pros
  • - Jack & Jill and Strictly Swing Competitions
  • - WSDC points for Novice and Intermediate Jack & Jill Competitions
  • - AANCE qualifying event for Novice and Intermediate Strictly Swing Competitions
  • - Limited private lessons available on request

Pre-Class Freestyle

The pre-class social dancing from 7.00pm - 7.30pm has been going great! Our awesome DJ’s have been spinning some cool tracks. Make sure you join us from 7.00pm on Monday and Thursday nights and practice your WCS freestyle for over one and a half hours every night at no extra cost!

We also encourage any budding DJ’s to come down and play any cool tunes during this time. So if you think you have some groovy WCS tracks to spin, please contact me to organise a slot for you.

Private Lessons

We have some awesome teachers at Raw Connection that are available to teach Private lessons. Private lessons are a great way to accelerate your WCS and get one on one feedback on your specific needs. A private will cost $70 per hour for 1 teacher and up to 2 students.

Discounted Class Passes

Why not purchase your WCS classes in bulk and save yourself some money. We now have a variety of multiple class passes available.

  • First Timer Pass: $30.00 for 5 classes (save 57%).
    This pass is only available for purchase during your first class at Raw Connection.  
  • 5 Class Pass (save 15%): $60.00 Adult, $50.00 Full Time Student
  • 10 Class Pass (Save 22%): $110.00 Adult, $90.00 Full Time Student

 

West Coast Swing Shoes

Raw Connection now has a full range of sizes of womens dance shoes with a low, wide heel making them ideal for WCS. Similar shoes normally retail for $170.00 in the stores but we are offering them for just $80.00 a pair. Check out our website for more details.
