Raw Connection results at The Best of the Best Competition

22 dedicated Raw Connection students made the trek to Sydney last week for Nuroc’s Best of the Best week of Workshops and Competitions with Benji Schwimmer and Kellese Key. We all learnt so much and we were amazed to see the huge amount of improvement in everyone’s dancing as the week progressed. We can’t wait to see the overflow effects at class.

Raw Connection WCS Gold Coast Class Opening

If you haven’t already heard, we are excited to announce that we will be running regular casual classes on the Gold Coast every Monday night starting on 15 February 2010. Our Thursday night classes will also continue to run as per normal.

We will be kicking off the Gold Coast classes with a FREE opening night and hope you can join us!!

We have an air conditioned hall with great acoustics, awesome floor and plenty of free parking available.

For those who have never attended a Raw Connection class before, First Timer Passes will be available for purchase on the night at $30.00 for 5 lessons. Please tell all your friends and get ready for a huge night!!!

  • First Timer Pass (save 57%): $30.00 for 5 classes
    This pass is only available for purchase during your first class at Raw Connection.  
  • 5 Class Pass (save 15%): $60.00 Adult, $50.00 Full Time Student
  • 10 Class Pass (Save 22%): $110.00 Adult, $90.00 Full Time Student

 

Patterns & Styling Workshop 3

Scott Stuart from WCS Melbourne and Katrina Ostrenski will be teaching this Workshop!!!

Scott and Kat are two of the most respected & accomplished West Coast Swing dancers on the Australian circuit today. Scott and Kat won the Open Dance Competition at Nuroc’s Best of the Best last weekend and Scott also won the Teachers Strictly Swing with Bianca Faber. 

Last year, Scott and Kat travelled to the USA where they won the Rising Start Classic event at Summer Hummer and the Novice Classic event at Dallace Dance (check out their routine). Come and learn from these guys before they head back to the USA in March for three months.

In this workshop, Scott & Kat will focus on tips, tools and techniques to help you enhance your dancing through body movement, shaping and musicality. Come and learn what makes these guys look so good.

WCS Dance Party

It’s dance party time!! Enjoy some social dancing and start implementing the new patterns and techniques after the workshop on 20 February 2010.

For its Queensland debut, we will also be performing the “I Gotta Feeling” Routine during the night.

Next Beginner West Coast Swing Course

The next beginner course will be held throughout February and March. This four week course covers the fundamental techniques you need to know about WCS as well as the basic patterns that form the foundation of the dance. With a focus on getting you confident and comfortable on the dance floor, this course is a must for anyone keen to accelerate their WCS dancing.

We have new concepts and theories which we will be introducing into our beginner course as a result of being exposed to teachers such as Mario Robou and Benji Schwimmer in the last few months.

Air Conditioned Venue and No Partner Required.

When:
Saturdays 4.00pm – 6.00pm.  27 February and 6, 13, 21 March 2010
Cost:
$130 or $100 if paid on or before 25 February 2010.
If you have already completed one of our prior beginner 101 courses, you can attend this course and revise your basics for $50.

           

Swingsation 2010

Raw Connection is proud to present a weekend of workshops, dance parties and competitions with US Champions, Ben Morris and Melina Ramirez.

Ben and Melina are 2 times World Swing Dance Champions, California Swing Dance Hall of Fame Nominees, and 3 time US Open Champions. Known for their smooth style, infectious personalities, and enjoyable workshops, Ben & Melina have been teaching together since 2003 and now travel all over America and internationally to teach, compete, judge, and perform. For their first trip to Australia, we are delighted to announce that Ben & Melina will be teaching and performing on the Gold Coast in June 2010.


The weekend will include:

  • 9 hours of workshops with Ben & Melina
  • 2 Dance Parties – Till Late
  • 2 performances by Ben & Melina including their 2010 Classic Routine
  • Jack & Jill, Strictly Swing and Team Competitions

Raw Connection Embroidered Tops

We have a limited amount of embroidered Raw Connection West Coast Swing tops for sale at class. Ladies singlet tops are $20.00 each and men’s collared button up shirts are $50.00 each.

 

West Coast Swing Shoes

Raw Connection now has a full range of sizes of both men’s and women’s shoes suitable for WCS. Similar shoes normally retail for $170 in the stores but we are offering them for $100 a pair. Check out our website for more details.
