Things happening at Raw Connection...

 

Patterns and Styling Workshop & Dance Party this Saturday night

Scott Stuart from WCS Melbourne and Katrina Ostrenski will be teaching this Workshop!!!

Scott and Kat are two of the most respected & accomplished West Coast Swing dancers on the Australian circuit today. Scott and Kat won the Open Dance Competition at Nuroc’s Best of the Best and Scott also won the Teachers Strictly Swing with Bianca Faber. 

Last year, Scott and Kat travelled to the USA where they won the Rising Stars Classic event at Summer Hummer and the Novice Classic event at Dallace Dance (check out their routine). Come and learn from these guys before they head back to the USA in March for three months.

In this workshop, Scott & Kat will focus on tips, tools and techniques to help you enhance your dancing through body movement, shaping and musicality. Come and learn what makes these guys look so good.

It's Party Time!!!

After the workshop it’s time to let your hair down, crack open a few drinks and social dance from 8.00pm - 10.00pm. $5.00 entry for anyone attending the prior workshop or $15.00 for those who can’t make the workshop.

Beginner West Coast Swing Course starts 27 February 2010

This four week Beginner Course covers the fundamental techniques you need to know about WCS as well as the basic patterns that form the foundations of the dance. With a focus on getting you confident and comfortable on the dance floor, this course is a must for anyone keen to accelerate their WCS dancing.

For those people who have done a Beginner Course before, this Course will also be beneficial to you as we will be introducing new concepts and theories we have picked up from some of the most respected teachers in the WCS World including Mario Robou and Benji Schwimmer.

Air Conditioned Venue and No Partner Required.

Dance HQ – 4/16 Pinter Drive, Southport
When:
Saturdays 4.00pm – 6.00pm.  27 February and 6, 13, 21 March 2010
Cost:
$130.00 or $100.00 if paid on or before 25 February 2010.

If you have already completed one of our prior beginner 101 courses, you can attend this course and revise your basics for just $50.00.

Free Class Incentive for 1 month only

As a 1 month only incentive, anyone who attends and pays for a casual entry or uses a multi class pass on a Monday night will get FREE entry to the following Thursday night class at Greenslopes and vice versa.

If you pay for entry or use a multi class pass on a Thursday night, you will get FREE entry to the following Monday night class at Ashmore. That's a great deal so take advantage of the offer while it lasts!!!

Why not purchase your WCS classes in bulk and save yourself some money. We now have a variety of multiple class passes available.

  • First Timer Pass (save 57%): $30.00 for 5 classes
    This pass is only available for purchase during your first class at Raw Connection.  
  • 5 Class Pass (save 15%): $60.00 Adult, $50.00 Full Time Student
  • 10 Class Pass (Save 22%): $110.00 Adult, $90.00 Full Time Student


           

Swingsation 2010

Raw Connection is proud to present a weekend of workshops, dance parties and competitions with US Champions, Ben Morris and Melina Ramirez.

Ben and Melina are 2 times World Swing Dance Champions, California Swing Dance Hall of Fame Nominees, and 3 time US Open Champions. Known for their smooth style, infectious personalities, and enjoyable workshops, Ben & Melina have been teaching together since 2003 and now travel all over America and internationally to teach, compete, judge, and perform. For their first trip to Australia, we are delighted to announce that Ben & Melina will be teaching and performing on the Gold Coast in June 2010.


The weekend will include:

  • 9 hours of workshops with Ben & Melina
  • 2 Dance Parties – Till Late
  • 2 performances by Ben & Melina including their 2010 Classic Routine
  • Jack & Jill, Strictly Swing and Team Competitions

We have a limited amount of embroidered Raw Connection West Coast Swing tops for sale at class. Ladies singlet tops are $20.00 each and men’s collared button up shirts are $50.00 each.

 

West Coast Swing Shoes

Raw Connection now has a full range of sizes of both men’s and women’s shoes suitable for WCS. Similar shoes normally retail for $170 in the stores but we are offering them for $100 a pair. Check out our website for more details.
